As a Farcaster user (and professional filmmaker) with little to no engagement here, Ive got some useful input and hopefully it gets seen: Most people will take a chance on something new. They'll join a new platform, invite their friends and many understand that patience and consistency are part of making it work. But people won't stay-or keep coming back-if there's no engagement or traction. Psych research shows we're wired for social reciprocity-when we post and get silence, the brain registers it like rejection. That's why even the most motivated users disengage over time, and wind up going back to the platforms that offer engagement. This is the same reason why most YouTubers who start with the goal of posting every day to "make it" eventually quit. Without early feedback or traction, the effort starts to feel invisible-and not worth it. 🧵

People don't use TikTok, IG, and YouTube because of video. They use it because of connection. These platforms work because they give users quick signals that their interactions matter. From there, habit is formed. As is momentum and further meaning. And continued use. If Farcaster wants to grow, I hope the team realizes video isn't the missing link. It's not just about getting people to show up-it's about making them feel like someone noticed they did. 💜
