Some days I wake up missing being in the art scene. This painting was the first one I finished from my project "Like a Girl: Dare to Dream" (read more about it here https://fercaggiano.art/lgdd/) I used to be super active on Instagram, and the curator of this museum in Louisiana actually asked me to enter their competition because she wanted my piece in. She saw my art on IG and fell in love with the project. I got selected and was lucky enough to had the painting sold before the exhibition so I could cover transport and insurance (costed me about U$ 1k). Of course it was an honor to have been scouted for this show, but the costs of playing the art game are very high and it is the main reason I haven't been able to paint for several years now. Someday I will have the right means and opportunity to jump back in that wagon. For now, I leave you with this nostalgic memory of the 9 Muses exhibition at Norton Gallery in Louisiana, displaying "Janet Bates" before my oficial opening for Like a Girl: Dare to Dream in South Carolina at the City Gallery a couple of years later.
