Really don’t get what’s so hard to understand about this. Most Israelis are Jewish, most Jewish people are not Israeli. Israel is a nation state. Judaism is a religion. Israel=/Judaism Ergo criticism of Israel is not anti-Semitic. Any more than criticism of the CCP is racist against Chinese people just because most members are Han Chinese. Now if you start talking shit about “World Jewery controlling the world” yeah you’re an anti-Semitic dickhead.

Because a lot of people have been using the term antisemitism to target critics and criticism of the actions of the Israeli government. This can't be news to you, surely?

Clear antisemitism? Come on. I’m not even particularly critical of Israel or wedded to a particular outcome in the region, I live about as far away from this conflict as it’s possible to be. (Though I will say it seems entirely unadvisable to open another theatre of conflict in the Middle East and risk spiralling into wider conflict). My point is for the pro Israeli crowd, don’t hide from criticism behind the shield of antisemitism it’s disingenuous, dilutes the meaning of the word and leads down a dark path (if criticism of Israel is forbidden then they have carte blanche to do literally anything). If you think Israel is a shining beacon of liberal democracy in the dark of the Middle East or whatever then make that case. But don’t hide behind “you’re just antisemitic!”
