Out of all the sciences, in my personal opinion astronomy is the most sublime.

CalTech and a bunch of other institutions have a tradition called Astronomy on Tap where they have general audience seminars at bars, with astrophysics trivia and whatnot. Plenty of recordings on YouTube, and CalTech has resumed doing it live in Pasadena, which I want to attend someday.

I tend to agree — anything that forces the human mind to contemplate its place in the vastness of the universe is transcendental / sublime. Mathematicians who explored infinities quite deeply (Ramanujan, Cantor, Hilbert, etc.) probably felt the same awe and reverence

to me, astronomy, in its grandeur, acts as particle physics expanded. atoms harbor inner universes akin to cosmic realms themselves no?
