Pretty sure the carbon cost assuming the tree is burned (probably isn’t but just to simplify) is the carbon cost for running the farm, right?

Yes, plus processing and transportation of the tree. We get Christmas trees here in tropical Singapore… you can imagine the distance they had to fly.
