I’ve long been interested in startup societies from afar—but the closer I’ve gotten, the more disillusioned I’ve felt. SEZs face a deep legitimacy crisis, where libertarian ideals often masquerade as techno-monarchism. Ipêcity brings a different flavor.

This startup society offers an alternative to gaudy SEZ experiments, using DAO tooling to build a civic tech stack rooted in participatory consent. ENS passports, EFP social graphs, and stablecoin rails create a portable, transparent layer where roles are earned, not bought. https://x.com/balajis/status/1923473207992123486

Startup societies deserve more than aesthetics and exit narratives. What happens when coordination is the product and consent is native, portable, and onchain? IpêCity prototypes civic infra with ENS as the identity layer, powered by @justaname, an @ensdao service provider. https://x.com/justaname_id/status/1922302621903172064
