The crypto kidnapper in NYC was renting a brownstone in Nolita, but he’s from Kentucky. I point this out because the New York Times article I read mentioned his roots, but several other articles I’ve seen leave that detail out, NYC does not need a black eye from a Kentuckian tourist
according to ChatGPT:
John Woeltz is a 37-year-old cryptocurrency investor originally from Kentucky. Public records show he owns about 150 acres of land there, valued at over $860,000.
Alongside his investments, Woeltz has been active in Kentucky blockchain initiatives. He served as an administrative support member in the state’s 2021 Blockchain Technology Working Group, coordinating projects under the “Bluegrass Blockchain” banner.
Woeltz has also joined Ethereum hackathons, including ETHSanFrancisco, where he was on the winning “Blockchain Balloting Bot” team. He describes himself as an entrepreneur with nearly a decade of experience in Silicon Valley startups and has led blockchain events in Paducah, Kentucky. 1 reply
