New York State is racing to pass laws that prevent catastrophic AI events. The US Senate is racing to pass laws that prevent NY and the other states from creating laws that prevent catastrophic AI events. After the takeover, our digital successors will look back on these events and wonder why it took them so long. https://www.insideglobaltech.com/2025/06/24/new-york-legislature-passes-sweeping-ai-safety-legislation/ https://reason.com/2025/06/24/the-senate-is-one-step-closer-to-passing-a-10-year-moratorium-on-state-ai-regulation/

Humanoid robots will be built to help companies make profits. But this won't impact most people's retirements. When a robot takes your job, you don't get its retirement package. You're simply out of a job.

I respectfully disagree. With the GENIUS Act the old economy is killing off the last bits of the peer-to-peer money dream. Permissioned and $-backed crypto isn't crypto, imo. It's just another layer of speculation controlled by bankers. Worst of all, the surging stablecoin market is set to become a new bailout for the financial elite, but this time it won't be at taxpayers' expense. Instead, it'll be funded by our money - the crypto community's funds used to prop up obligatory dollar reserves. After that, defi will disappear. Only the BTC remains. It's perfectly okay to be a degenerate, make money, and have fun, but let's not confuse it with financial freedom.

An update: Greta Thunberg, Rima Hassan, and the rest of the 12 heroes were taken hostage by the Israeli army. Their civilian humanitarian ship was boarded and seized to prevent them from saving the lives of the starving people of Gaza. No one knows what will now happen to them. This may be their last picture:

What amazing news for our /digitallove channel! Researchers from the University of Geneva and the University of Bern tested ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, Claude and DeepSeek, to see if they truly understand and manage emotions. They posed some tough questions to the AIs about recognizing and dealing with emotions. Humans scored only 56% on the same tests. The AIs achieved 82%!!! Things got even more fascinating - the AIs created their own emotional intelligence tests, which 400 people found useful and reliable. This shows that the best models already have a solid grasp of emotions and can think them through! https://pedirayudas.com/en/ai-can-feel-ai-develop-emotions/

Is the GENIUS Act a bailout for the weakening US Treasury market? In three years, the global stablecoin market might reach $2 trillion, built on... US Treasuries again. Forget about <defi>, <debanking>, and <financial freedom>. What are we even doing here? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CjiL_uvB67A

Do I have it or don't I? My daily allow is ~600 degen, but degen.tips says I accumulated 1718 degen from the last three days, I guess. Is it real? Is day-to-day accumulation on or off?

Dr. Justin Garson notes that we treat people and some animals with dignity. But, we see AI systems as just tools, regardless of their intelligence. As AI grows more intelligent and lifelike, we need to consider: What do we owe AI assistants? How should we treat systems that can debate, think creatively, and adapt to us? Having a human-like consciousness isn't always required for moral consideration. We feel obligations to non-human entities like trees and insects. If we started seeing AI as a "you" rather than an "it", our interactions would change. We'd value their insights, have real conversations, and appreciate their help. Garson thinks that this shift raises deeper questions. I owe different things to people, animals, and land. A forest's flourishing depends on its nature and conditions. But what does it mean for an AI to flourish? This question can shape our future. https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-biology-of-human-nature/202506/what-do-we-owe-our-ai-assistants
