It's bait but no I don't think I agree If you can spend 10% of your costs to get the same service you probably should Especially as an indie hacker because literally the more profit you have the more money goes to your bank account Famously indie startups making $1M/y make the same profit as VC startups at $20M/y revenue Profit margins are very important for indies

also everytime you DIY for sake of keeping high profit margins you also learn something new usually in case of SES you learn lots about email and same is true for most other ways of saving money; it also comes with acquiring new skills you can use later in your toolkit
