my parents love the "Defereggental"

Lienz has a beautiful city center and a castle as well as the "millstäter see" nearby

Definitely would go to see the "Großglockner" as well. Beautiful mountain with nice waterfalls called "Krimmler Wasserfälle" in german
the Zeller See is incredibly beautiful with Zell am See a nice small austrian town there (also the hometown of the Porsche family)

Tolmezzo is a nice small Italian town in the region to shop and get some coffee, if you're driving there go over the "Staller Sattel"

The Misurina See is also great with the "Sella Gruppe" of mountains nearby
