A quick Google reveals snarky comments about how Virtual Boy (and most likely Sega Glasses, too) wasn't "real" VR, just a stereoscopic display. I tried some high end VR helmets back in the 1990's and I'm not sure it really made much difference (except maybe for head tracking..) 🤷♂️ 😅

my best friend had one when I was a kid! we never could get it working properly, everything was just red lines 😅 (which in hindsight kinda tracks with the ads I think, but my 8 year old brain was expecting something much bigger and brighter and animated hahah)

Kids today would be amazed at how much time we spent playing as green blocks of pixels shooting at red blocks of pixels. 🙃 I can't get the 12yo to read a book if it would save his life. He also has zero coping mechanisms for dealing with boredom..
