Monet to Xcopy in 3 artists.... This got no love in the @xcopy.eth channel so going to try it here! I've always been interested in the progression of art through history. In this thread I'm going to link Monet to Xcopy with just 3 artists in between Would love to hear other perspectives on this. 1/6

Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960 - 1988) : Deeply influenced by De Kooning as well as the urban environment, street culture and African art, Basquiat shared De Kooning's energetic, improvisational techniques while tackling contemporary issues such as the information age and racism. 5/6

Xcopy (no idea!): Similarly exploring themes that critique contemporary society like consumerism, technology and capitalism, both Basquiat and Xcopy share a sense of gestural boldness, with vivid mask-like faces combined with text and symbols in their work. 6/6
