In 2016 like many I was climbing roofs, hanging out all night and doing other things that felt very... edgy. I think it's part aging, part playing it safe, part seeing some getting busted for what we all did. Maybe I should go back and see how it feels now :)

it's definitely not static, i agree it got cleansed a bit. and it keeps changing. i always see places through the lens of what i make of them, and in that sovereignty you still end up finding the best. a big part of it is the connections to people. hk's neon has sadly seen a sharp decline; many of the icons are gone, but definitely not all. there are still survivors, and efforts to preserve and archive them. the glow has shifted, but the spirit isn't dead

Ah yeah, totally forgot that almost (all?) old neon lights are gone now. That's a huge change in the feel of the city.

I find it got a bit cleansed after the reopening. No more late night eats. The dining crowd never really came back in full force. Lots of the neon signs gone. 

I still love it, just find it wasn’t the same as 2019 (ok, 2019 protests, weren’t the same either, lol, but at least it happened)
