The answer turned out to be unexpectedly simple: the most important thing is a close relationship. Reliable, warm, lively. Not money. Not the looks. Not even the genes. He's just someone you can talk to. Ordinary, but your own. But loneliness destroys. It is called a new form of chronic stress. It harms the body in the same way as cigarettes or excess weight. Data from 42,062 participants revealed 175 proteins associated with social isolation, 26 with loneliness, many of them involved in inflammation and immune responses.
