A few thoughts on Base app launching on Farcaster 1. This a big milestone for the Farcaster protocol! The Base app has millions of existing users that will be onboarded to Farcaster over the coming months. 2. It’s a big win for users — another well-funded client. Different features. Different algo. Different opportunities to earn (opt in!). Farcaster account and your social graph seamlessly work across both (simultaneously!). 3. It’s a big win for developers. Mini apps work with Base out-the-box. It was awesome to see Farcaster mini app developers on stage at the main event today! 4. Expect a few growing pains. We’re learning and working to make the experience as smooth as possible. 5. Expect both apps to try different experiments. A powerful part of Farcaster is permissionless innovation. The Degen and Clanker teams didn’t have to ask anyone for permission to build new experiences on Farcaster. Feature, not a bug.

Do mini apps work out of the gate? I have seen casts from devs saying we will make it work in tba. Do they need to do anything?

Sounds great on progress for FC protocol layer. I think competition is a net positive, but how will this affect the FC app strategy long-term? I can see Base app owning the funnel to onboard new crypto users in the future & cause a shift in priority for the FC app. I could be assuming here, but I'm interested in how you think about this strategically. Love to see all the major progress out here

I'm guessing base app won't be contributing to the farcaster protocol itself though, right? It will leverage the protocol, but likely won't try to create new primitives that all of farcaster can benefit (example, their own version of miniapps)

re: experiments now that there's another well-funded client, does that change your vision for the farcaster app (TFA)? seems like it could open some space to differentiate that may not have been appealing before

1. Do we know why it’s a staggered rollout, instead of just it being rolled out to everyone? 2 and 3 absolutely - big win for users and developers. And the more on the protocol, is a good thing for users and devs. We love experiments. Keep to up Dan!

Finally got access 😄 I'm really missing the chrono feed and channels, so I'll probably be sticking with the Farcaster app for a while, but it's so cool to get a glimpse of the future where users own their data, and apps exist to help us navigate it. Hopefully @xmtp will make its way over to the Farcaster app eventually. It's always magical when I connect my identity to a new app, and I can see messages all the way back to the Lens era etc. It worked on the old Coinbase Wallet, but I haven't gotten that working in Base yet 🤔 That's my next goal I guess.

The way Base has plugged into Farcaster with zero friction is so underrated. Everything syncs, devs don’t need to rebuild anything, and users can move freely between worlds. Also love how both clients can now explore totally different directions. It’s going to push the ecosystem forward faster than we think
