The Iranian ballistic missile attack tonight was aimed at a domestic audience.

Iran informed the targets (an evacuated airbase) that they would be attacked hours in advance, fired roughly a dozen ballistic missiles, and then immediately declared victory in the domestic press.

Here's what I think is going to happen based on past experiences. 

Iran will attack empty US military bases in the middle east. It will have no casualties (or a few) They will make these attacks look like a big successful revenge. Just as they did before when the US eliminated Soleymani and 7 month ago with Isreal. Everything will go back to normal after that. 

There's no more need for the US or Israel to continue this war they have achieved all their goals and there's is nothing the Islamic republic can do about it. 

Islamic republic will keep pretending that the US bombs didn't do much damage. Then they will continue to drain the Iranian people and rebuild everything with Iranian people's money and Iran's resources.
