We chat in private too, but interesting to see how this just disappeared. I got a notification but I couldn’t find the cast @bleu.eth Will said Xbox chap get a taste of his own medicine? Unsure if he’s ready to “eat his own dogfood”. Layoffs suck, don’t know if prompts will help you. I mean, try it all…

The channel doesn’t provide any distribution benefit.

i do not care about the channel distribution i care about being able to converse on a social media network with my frens https://farcaster.xyz/bytebot/0x14334f63 if they post on a channel where i cant, well that sucks

Just post outside the channel and tag them? What does posting in the channel do? Genuinely curious.

hmm yea that does feel broken ux to me, I wouldn't care if my messages are hidden or whatever. as it stands right now is really confusing. > gets a notification about someone you follow posting on a channel > I can reply to that message > then I get a weird warning about that not being allowed > then the message is hidden/deleted > then you can no longer reply on than thread that's broken on many levels ux wise to me, but if you think that's fine, well, I guess we'll agree to disagree here. either block me altogether from replying first time, or whats best, don't show me any posts whatsoever on channels where -im banned- and not allowed to participate. tbh as a user its kinda insulting, your contributions aren't welcome here, go off, that's the vibe the user gets from all this channel nonsense I'd ask you to put yourself on the shoes of your users for once, we cannot post everywhere or reclaim -dead- channels as we see fit, because we're not admins in here, so for us the mere mortals, these things hurt a lot, because affect our experience using the site, daily, repeteadley, and it all adds up, a death by a thousand cuts. anyways end of rant, much love. I want farcaster to win, that's where my frustration comes from, not from entitlement, I promise you.

If I take away the channel, people will screech about it not being decentralized. Lose lose.

yeah, I see that, I don't think that's the solution. question. at the protocol level, is there anything that prohibits casting/replying on channels you're not part of? or is it only a client thing? what im trying to ask here, Is I wouldn't mind my casts to go hidden if people dont follow me etc, its just, I'd like to reply to a conversation where it happens and not have to resort to a hack of quote casting and restarting it elsewhere. but I see how there's not really an -easy- solution ie: on the dead channels stuff. do they expire after some time or are owned for ever? anyways thanks for replying. and sorry for the rant.
