Sure, but better to be clear upfront when we start tweak the spam labeling algorithms.

re: hall monitor — yes, I am. Quality is what drives growth, that requires rules and taste. If you don't like those rules / taste, use or build another client. Beauty of a decentralized system.

And to be clear: if you're just casting in your own timeline or channels, algo won't care about it. It's when you start taxing other people's attention (and potentially making the experience worse for others), that you might get labeled.

fwiw, I don't really get your crusade against spam filtering. You strike me as sophisticated enough to realize that most of the accounts getting labeled are actually uninteresting to most people.

It's 2024. Is replying to every post of another user with a low effort reply not obviously spammy?

Why are some new users able to not do this?

the catch-22 i'm observing is:
- new users do displeasing things to old users
- you explain what is displeasing in casts after the fact (that most new users don't see b/c they are not pushed)
- new users are already labeled as spam and cannot correct their behavior

i am not against your push for quality as i clearly benefit from this, just pointing out that the order of events and uneven broadcasting do not help new users course-correct in time

So if it was 10-20x the rate on every post, do you think you'd be more annoyed?

i never really had too much issues with spam, although i can imagine it must be difficult for bigger accounts getting all the unwanted notifications. 

once in a while i see something i don’t like, uninteresting, i just unfollow and mute the user, simple as. i report them if i see them bothering others with blatant spam.

From someone who was in spam before, it’s really not a place you want to be

Since then, I’ve been careful on how I post and reply comments too

I’m one of those “@ null” accounts is it a case in being labeled as a spam user? or I’m just lucky
