Controlling something that produces or retains usefulness or desirability. "Hype" works until it doesn't. It's not long term value. Meme tokens only have hype. Any token that "pumps" is probably only trading on hype. Any value built on hype will disappear when the hype moves on. Tokens that actually control/govern something that is producing a real thing that people want/need, not just a zero-sum ponzi scheme, have long term value. Lockups just create hype, not long term value. Still gotta build something real, or you're just delaying the dump.

Don’t think (current) retail crypto investors actually care or understand. Bitcoin pretty much perpetuates it https://x.com/ohmzeus/status/1892324785113223345?s=46&t=LUwp6CEG8bj71wefilcCmQ

Best question !! Imho for commodity like crypto, value comes from trust x network effect, scarcity, usage of information system services (telco/payments/compute etc.), robustness of system, security of ownership and other things I’m missing rn. For securities like crypto 🤫 value comes from partial ownership (governance and/or profits) of a protocol/dao, just like a regular stock but incredibly better, with wider use cases. Then there is the casino /rollercoaster value, people just buying hope or other emotions they’re addicted too. …what am I missing ? 🙏

Scary question in truth. For /swan I like to think it taps into the creative economy. The value you accrue is linked to the amount of creativity you have. Do you think the creative sector can give “crypto” sustainable value? So far I think it can. Will have to think about this some more…
