FYI - web 3 artists (re: twitter/x) You might wanna expand to read all. I noticed my reach on Twitter was drastically nerfed a few months ago, beyond usual. Like 20/40 views max. This wasn’t happening for music friends (non web3) so being the hyperfixated master QC brain I am. I began regularly inspecting my fellow web3 artists/collectors Even though they never publicly acknowledged it & maybe didn’t care, they were experiencing the same hard nerf. Didn’t matter if you had 8k / 26k followers, the totaled viewed after days was almost always less than 300, and usually much less. I guess much of crypto has felt this, artist or not, so enough people made noise to finally get Nikita to made a posts about it. Which you’ve likely seen reactions to in your for you feed. That aside, watching everything I post reach max 40 views, I attempted to trouble shoot. ::the wrong 40 people keep seeing and don’t care:: So I went through my followers to trim inactive users. That’s when I noticed how many cypto scam bots were following so obviously I began blocking. Here’s the thing. Blocking or unfollowing more than a dozen accounts in a day flags your account, which in turn, destroys reach even further. You have no way to protect your account from bot followers other than making your account private. Only then do you gain the ability to approve/deny follow requests, the trade off is now you can be reposted, or even seen by anyone not following you. I’m sure you all aware of Elon adding the ability to AI edit any image on the platform, also sure you’re aware of how that featured was used and also how Elon responded to Ch*ldpron & undressing woman. I’m not sure if you are aware or care that new T.O.S. Go into effect on 1.15.26 While i’m not naive enough to think our data is safe anywhere we post on the internet. I’d rather my nuke my 50k tweets since 2008 than OPT into giving one of the most deplorable humans on the planet my data to help train his ventures. Think about the prisoners dilemma & hold these platforms and companies have over you. You have the data, you can see the risk/reward. You lost your ability to reach the ones who want to see you, but worse lost the ability to not be force fed doom & the worst of humanity. Avoiding a for you feed doesn’t work, because it influences the people you follow & bleeds into that feed. There’s a reason why I went hard on sound xyz years ago, it’s the same reason I went hard on zora. There is no justification for manipulating users ability to own their attention, see only who they follow and reach who follows them. There is no net positive effect for users. This mechanic serves no purpose besides unethical intentions. This is and was never progress / evolution / or something anyone should have just accepted and adapted to. Use your critical mind. Use your eyes and your heart. This didn’t even out the playing field or democratize the digital social experience. The carrot of virility & earn potential is a scam very easy to see. Look at the world around you. You can’t meme your way through being abused. Please love yourselves and your fellow humans all just searching for connection enough to push back & bully the ones oppressing you. Especially you artists. 🫂 The only possible chance we have to get through this is to ignore the pvp / self preservation instinct that being forced into this system creates. And signal boost. Or just flat out opt out of being the disposable digital data ponzi all together.
