Washington Post: A fight between Elon Musk and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent occurred at the White House about a month ago and is believed to be the cause of a rift in the relationship between Elon Musk and President Trump. The story begins after a meeting at the Oval Office, where Elon Musk and Scott Bessent jointly proposed who would lead the IRS. President Trump chose Bessent's option. When the two left the meeting room, they began to argue. Bessent is said to have called Musk a "scammer" for not fulfilling his promise to cut $1 trillion in federal spending. Tension escalated, Elon Musk is said to have plunged his shoulder into Bessent's chest like a rugby player attacking Bessent. Bessent immediately fought back and the two had to be dissuaded by those around them. When he heard about the fight, President Trump said "This has gone too far". .
