Vitalik Buterin: Ethereum should expand Layer 1 10 times in the next year

Vitalik said that Ethereum can expand about 10 times within a year, thanks to upgrades such as delayed execution, network improvements, and distributed history storage.

After that, Vitalik suggested that it should be paused to re-evaluate decentralization, and a hard fork could be done to handle the remaining problems such as account abstraction, anti-censorship, and protocol simplification.

Vitalik opposes scaling too fast as the immediate 1000x target, and emphasizes that all upgrades must remain decentralized. When ZK-EVMs are mature enough, Ethereum can scale more strongly.
