Visa and Mastercard can lose billions of USD per year if users switch to paying with stablecoin, especially in online shopping. 🇺🇸 In the first two months of 2025, consumers spent an average of 555.5 billion USD/month on shopping, with nearly 19% coming from e-commerce. As platforms such as PayPal, Venmo, Stripe become increasingly popular and merchants are willing to reduce prices when paying with stablecoin to avoid high fees, stablecoins can be a real threat to Visa and Mastercard.
