BMW RECALLS MORE THAN 26,000 5 SERIES AND X5 CARS IN CHINA DUE TO FIRE RISK IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT

The recall affects a total of 26,846 vehicles, including imported and locally produced models.

From June 25, 2025, the recall affects:

80 imported BMW 5 Series vehicles manufactured between October 10 and November 27, 2024;
16,813 locally produced BMW 5 Series vehicles manufactured between January 22, 2024 and February 25, 2025;
9,953 locally produced BMW X5 vehicles assembled between November 7, 2023 and February 18, 2025.

The reason for the recall is that on some vehicles the starter-generator power connectors may have been manufactured in violation of technical requirements. With a significant increase in resistance, the risk of overheating increases and, as a result, a fire or engine stalling while driving.

The manufacturer will check the condition of the generator and electrical cables on the affected vehicles free of charge. If necessary, the components will be replaced or repaired.
