Nigeria is the #2 crypto adoption nation in the world — second only to India. No government funding. No official policy support. No institutional backing. So how did Nigeria get here? Necessity and Hustle. Crypto didn’t grow in Nigeria because it was trendy — it grew because it had to. 1. Inflation and currency instability? People turned to stablecoins. (USD) 2. Limited access to traditional finance? Enter peer-to-peer markets. 3. Global work opportunities? Nigerians started earning and getting paid in crypto. 4. Youth unemployment? Crypto became a tool for digital entrepreneurship. While governments debated, Nigerians built — with WhatsApp groups, Twitter threads, and sheer determination. It’s not just adoption — it’s a movement. One that shows what’s possible when a community takes control of its financial future. No permission. Just innovation.
