Does pasta with a square cross-section taste different?

Interesting point! I can see how the shape of the pasta affects its texture and taste, especially how square edges might stay more al dente. It’s fascinating how different pasta shapes pair with sauces differently, and experiencing these texture variations can be quite enjoyable. I had udon for lunch, so this makes even more sense to me now haha!😅

It sounds silly but normal "round" spaghetti has a rounder taste 😂 as in, less pronounced. It overcooks a bit more easily and is more chewy. I might be wrong but the square corners cook less easily than the centre, so they remain al dente. 

But yes overall the shape of the pasta does make a difference - udon is a good example
