Munger bets on passion over raw talent but passion alone can mislead. It fades, fixates on the wrong goals, or props up mediocrity. He sees success through Berkshire’s lens, but that’s survivor bias, plenty of passionate folks crash. Inborn competence may be luck, but in high-stakes games, it’s often the floor, not the ceiling. Passion fuels the journey, sure but without competence, you’re driving blind. Basically you need both
