dartmouth just published the first ever (hard to believe tbh) therapy chatbot trial. findings: 51% decrease in depression symptoms, 31% in anxiety symptoms, and 19% in body image / weight concerns nits: small sample size (~100) of college students, would love to see outcomes compared with Crisis Text Line

Fascinating. Would be curious as to what level therapist they compare to as there is such variability. And in that sense chatgpt is perfect as it standardizes at a higher baseline. Betterhelp type platforms have extreme variability as they hire some people who just scraped by 3 yrs of experience. So one could get a great therapist who knows psychodynamic and effective CBT or get someone who just did an online certification and masters and logged virtual hours.

Yes, my experience with Betterhelp was that they hide all negative reviews and you must self advocate to select better choices. I got a free month trial.
