But I don't want selfies for no reason and gym pics of ppl I don't care about

I want Reddit pre-2016. I want Twitter pre-X. I want to READ interesting things.

Surely the algo can figure out individual tastes and feed us what we want?

I’ve tried to add more images, even GPT generated ones to complement the algo but then anytime I do that there’s a clear drop in engagement with assumption that it’s AI slop text [which I almost never use(hence my littered grammatical errors)]

Also kills the vibes that miniapps brought which truly made this fun

It's both beautiful and frustrating that FC is continuously iterating. Right as you kind of figure out engagement they change the Algo

Ultimately I want FC to get to 1b users and I get that video/pictures are a must, I just hope they can keep a slice of text-based social media for those that want it: old, not trendy ppl like me. As Dan says, you can always build another client...I guess.
