Swedish study from last year showed tattooed individuals had a 21% higher risk of developing malignant lymphoma compared to those without. Time dependent: Risk varied based on time from first tattoo, with some having developed lymphoma within 2 years of first tattoo (could be ink related?) and those with >11yrs had high risk Interesttingly, size of tattoo didnt matter Two specific types of lymphoma dominated: diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and follicular lymphoma Whats wild: relative risk of lymphoma was 2.6 times higher in tattooed individuals who had received laser therapy for removal! Likely mechanism for this is persistent low-grade inflammation in the skin, but also wonder if type of ink matters looking at the ones who got lymphoma very close to their first tattoo. Including ingredient such as PAH, Azo pigments and impurities One of my most interesting auto-inflammatory cases was a man who got sarcoidosis after getting tattoos. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2589537024002281#fig2

Interstate. It’s multi factorial cause . We can’t do randomized trials . Only Retrospective data only . Tattoo making components- Inorganic compounds such as carbon black (for black ink), iron oxides (for reds, browns, and blacks), titanium dioxide (for white), and various metal salts like cobalt, chromium, cadmium, and mercury for other colors. Are any of them ? Out of top common cause of lymphoma tattoo is not the top in list .
