This is the same for every platform.
If you are in a large group, it may take up to 5 days for a day's worth of messages to be uploaded xd

it’s a client/UI problem. the view scrolls to the bottom every time a new message arrives

I don't want to be unfair because I have the same problem even on Instagram, x and webwhatsapp
