if someone clicks a share icon, it should just automatically copy the url to clipboard...why do we need a second click? am i missing sth?

not just an iOS pattern. it’s across all operating systems. copy and share are two different actions. you can implement this yourself for those who care but most do not or don’t even know they could use it like that
