Funny thing with beers that say Belgian style, they never taste like a real Belgian beer :) Never had this one however. Must try it.

Iβ€˜m not really familiar with Belgian beers, so I canβ€˜t judge. I’m more a Munich/Bavarian beer drinker.

We would call those 'table beers' over here haha. Meaning it would be given to kids at breakfast (this was actually a thing they did when the waters where to polluted during the industrial revolution) However, We Belgians are always mocking every other beer that is not ours because we think we are the best (kinda is or rather was)

Germans do drink a lot more quantities of it to :p. However, someone once told me in Germany that there are strict rules about the recipes for beer which would make most of the pilsners be exactly the same (the source water changes the taste to make the different enough). Is that actually true? Or some old urban legend?

Yes, Deutsches Reinheitsgebot (german purity law). Only three ingredients are allowed. Water, barley and hobs. But breweries tend to experiment with different hops varieties to create their unique flavor profile. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinheitsgebot

Makes sense to be honest. Don't put shit in your drinks. Seen weird beer experiments over the years haha. In Belgium there is one specific law for the kind of beer "trappist". The law states that you can only make trappist in an active abby. Most of these beers are at the highest rated beers in the world. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trappist_beer

In Germany it too started in monastery, but overtime it was brewed at home. They started to implement this law because brewers put funny things into the beer (like the berries of poison ivy).
