Today in Bluesky drama: Sky Marchini deactivates their account after posting an explanatory thread about the nuances of oil refining w.r.t. Venezuela. Popular leftist account 'Karl' says Will Stancil & Sky should be "doxxed like Nazis" seemingly for undermining the narrative that it was "all about oil." Karl then gets banned & fellow brigadiers get even more irate. My take away is that Bluesky is still paying the "Faustian bargain tax" of onboarding primarily anti-social/extremist users that nobody would pay to read (or advertise next to), and this is starting to repel high signal users. While I'm sure the BSky team understand this is a problem (they've all been brigaded & harassed personally), it's extremely difficult to resist audience capture and potentially have DAUs drop while weeding out low-quality users.
