pressing on a channel, profile or searching is choosing a custom feed, and users do that daily.
I agree the interface for custom feeds is not a setting somewhere hidden, as these settings have no distribution.
But giving users more control and choice is a good thing, and a strong counter position to web2.
Feeds should be discoverable organically and first class citizens
