Leaders have 3 possible perspectives: • Normative (intellectual): they're "prophets" or "philosophers" • Existential (experience): they're "priests" or "counselors" • Situational (action): they're "kings" or "administrators" Most leaders have a dominant perspective with a secondary.

I'm a prophet/king. Very cerebral, trust my intuition, and then take action. I'm Type A. I don't have a ton of patience, and it's hard for me to see the world through your eyes (for better or for worse). It's therefore important for me to have a priest around.

Normatives/prophets are typically visionary. They see the world and how it can be different. Existentials/priests build alignment around the vision. They rally people and establish culture. Situationals/kings are those who execute. They plan, break down goals into steps, and ensure everyone rows in one direction.

This tri-perspectival approach to leadership has been super helpful for me, particularly when thinking about people I want to work and lead with. Image source: Drew Goodmanson (https://www.goodmanson.com/)
