mark my words: by the end of next week you'll be able to onboard your friends with confidence reality is we've put a lot of work into it, much of it in the past 2 weeks, if you're indexed on what happened before that your priors are stale, and hundreds of users have been and do onboard each week (though not enough retain which is also something we're going deep on) part of the challenge is intrinsic: a self custodial sovereign social account has many more moving pieces and the unavoidable challenges of users backing up their keys and requirement of some payment / gating to prevent unbounded state growth on a the protocol we've thought a lot about how to solve them that balance decentralization, self-custody, and UX, there are some big bets like smart accounts and / or TEE architectures that could provide fundamental unlocks but they have their own trade-offs in terms of complexity, security, and trust assumptions, these are effectively 1 way doors so we need to have high confidence before pursuing one deeper all this being said I was looking into all of this last week and am confident there are some short term tactical wins that will make it so all users that want to get onto Farcaster can without getting stuck in an account recovery flow and will work on delivering these next week
