@deodad
abstract lesson but one that came up in multiple domains of my life in a big way is just how hard communication is
as in you have two people with a different understanding of the same subject
there's often no "set of words" that can bridge that gap
words are imprecise and mean different things to different people, it's hard to use words precisely (think of dense philosophy where trying to use words precisely leads to a practical problem where now there's not enough time and energy to parse it all), people have different values and beliefs where even if words aren't the problem the conclusions they draw from them are, people have different bodies that hold feelings on things that aren't easily dislodged (like literal child hood traumas 30 years older) that also inform their understanding
so even if two people are smart, well meaning, care for each other, and put in time and effort to try to bridge this gap, the road can still be rocky and it's more like slowly coming to understand each other more after many instances of 2 steps forward 1 step back than some straightforward "let's simply discuss"
