Over 20 years ago Dean Kamen started talking about his "slingshot" project to fix water borne illness forever, and he even invented the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine you see everywhere specifically so that they would build the water purification machines for him and distribute them to where they're needed. There were TED talks, and even a full length movie about it. Apparently only 150 were ever built and almost none of them are in service today. Anyway, I watched a video recently about how cholera has been spiking harder than ever, despite me assuming it would have been fixed by now, so I figured I'd see if I could take the Slingshot press releases and reverse engineer my own version, which I have hosted on https://opensling.org/ for anyone to build. I might spin up a signal group if anyone else wants to try to build one of these and see what happens.
