In business, strategy has a precise meaning.
If every plan or process is called a strategy, it will cause confusion.
Here is the difference between the two: 1) Strategy explains the "why" and "how" of creating value.
2) Plans detail the "what" and "when" of achieving goals.
In his book "One Hour Strategy", Jeroen breaks down strategy into six components:
a) Market: Who are the target customers and competitors? Strategy can describe an organization's current position, future goals, and how to achieve results.
Whereas plans list the steps, resources, and timelines for execution.
While plans help implement strategy, they are not a strategy in themselves. Goals and actions must align with the logic of the strategy.
Key Question:
Does your organization really have a strategy, or does it just operate on plans?
