Heading into *Doom: The Dark Ages*, I anticipated it would be a solid introduction to the series, especially as a prequel to the 2016 reboot. While I usually enjoy high-octane first-person shooters like *Doom* and its 2020 sequel, *Doom Eternal*, they somehow never made their way onto my radar. That said, I'll defend the divisive 2005 movie, finding its over-the-top style endearing despite its flaws.
