This is a really dumb question, but what’s the business model for block explorers?

They're known to charge up to $1m per chain. Loads of new chains/L2s coming out all the time so sizeable market.

Definitely good candidate for public goods funding. For normal users they literally *are* the defacto ledger/chain.

It seems like block explorers fall into the public good category and a good candidate for funding directly from the protocol
