i've spent less time on social media this week and instead read long form articles on various crypto/tech topics. i come out of this with a sense of clarity and renewed inspiration

social media is great to make connections and keep your finger on the pulse of things, but i really wish there was a way to access interesting content without having to spend an excessive amounts of time on here

on the negative side, the fact that its mandatory for creators and brands to be chronically online today kind of rugs deep meaningful work  

in some ways a lot of the value i get from great newsletters is the work of curating the alpha so i don't have to do it

is there a world where the algorithm does that efficiently instead? wen ai assistant that scrolls my social media feeds for me and curates content based on a diet i've designed myself

Thought the /slowcore-hq crowd might appreciate this. I certainly do.

I wholeheartedly second their sentiment! And the fact that this came from someone who's in marketing (which, at this point, is almost synonymous with social media) and is involved in the creator economy is... fascinating to say the least.

Very telling of the times we live in too! I feel more and more people are starting to feel turned off by being chronically online but don’t see an alternative.

A part of me wonders if the nature of real time feedback is the issue

For example, imagine if any post that's sent has zero notification(s) to the OP until 24 hours later. Imo, I need that default setting instead of me constantly checking whether there are any responses + tapping that (gambling dopamine hit)
