It’s funny to think that back when I was in art school I hated working with wood because I despise sawdust. But becoming a knifemaker, and working with it for the handles, gave me a deeper appreciation for the material.

My Step-Father in his workshop/garage. He passed away several years ago. He was one of the good ones for sure 😊

Wow, you just triggered a deep core memory of mine. My grandfather was a mechanic, and a hoarder. He had this crazy time capsule of a garage. Full of tools and old machinery. I got my first welding helmet from him. Every time I went in there I’d find some treasure that I can use and give new purpose.

Different tools and times and stories. So much wonder in different materials.

My godfather was a world renowned crossbow maker. He used traditional methods. He was a true craftsman and sometimes I still remember the smell of his workshop.

Ofc when I was fresh out of high school and a helper in a cabinet making place... I was not as much a fan of the sawdust I'd have to sweep up, empty, etc 😂
