Update: Success! I’m getting over 2.7Gbps download and over 3.1Gbps upload from my NIC which means it’s using the 5GbE architecture. I have 3Gbps Fiber To The Home so this is right around what i’m paying for (was only maxing out at 2.3Gbps up/down before purchasing the network switch)

The dream is to build a LAN that will one day house a decent server. Admittedly, i’m still just a network novice, so flexing pointless speeds to my friends will have to do for now :)

Absolutely! I can’t wait to get one of those cool server racks to put a bunch of server blades in. I’ve always wanted to be a hobbyist hosting reseller as well, so maybe in the distant future i’ll also sell web hosting. There’s a bunch of small projects that i can do right now (setting up a NAS, media server, Pi Hole, etc) that should challenge me enough if i get bored
