may be a bit controversial to say this and may be i am way off mark here, but:
neynar likely didnt have a choice but to acquire farcaster - i dont think they were chomping at the hands for this opportunity.
they were all in on farcaster. if now merkle wants to call it a day, they got no option but to just see how far they could take it.
another team acquiring farcaster also brings in so much uncertainty to them - they probably thought its worth the gamble.
(i like neynar, i like rish and team and i philosophically like the direction)
