17 years ago: the first Bitcoin transaction
On January 12, 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto carried out the first transaction on the Bitcoin network, sending it to Hal Finney. According to Finney, Satoshi’s identity remained a mystery to him — he believed he was communicating with “a young person of Japanese origin, very intelligent and sincere.”
