Coinbase was transparent about the data breach, didn’t pay the $20 million ransom, and offered it as a reward to catch the hackers while reimbursing affected customers. The breach happened because overseas support agents were bribed, exposing less than 1% of users’ personal info. They’re now working on better security and bringing some operations back in-house.
