Macallan 18 Year Old 2017 Release Distilled at Macallan, Speyside, matured exclusively in sherry oak casks from Jerez, Spain, bottled 2017 annual release, 43% ABV, 750ml bottle. RRP: ~$200 Current Price: ~$1,500 Collectible score: 85/100 Tasting Notes: Nose: Rich sherry influence with dried fruits, raisins, and sultanas. Mixed berry preserves, warm cinnamon toast, butter. Orange marmalade, spiced plums, ginger, vanilla, milk chocolate. Hints of clove and nutmeg. Palate: Soft and incredibly silky texture. Red and black berries (quite jammy, like marmalade), large dollops of toffee, nicely integrated oak. Chocolate, coffee beans, freshly made latte. Sweet dry sherry, salted butter on toasted English muffin. Clean and uncomplicated yet full and satisfying. Finish: Long with lovely drawn out fade. Charred oak with lingering tannic notes punctuated by sweet and slightly salty caramel. Biscuitiness and good scattering of nuts. Continued sherry notes, orange zest, dried fruits.
