This ended up being one of the worst led projects I’ve seen in the space. The overpromising and underdelivering were off the charts. But when you look at the next few projects he launched afterward, you realize it’s a pattern and not an exception. Hardly anything has disappointed me this much, as it really did have potential if the communication wasn't as bearish as possible, like it's deliberate, while im pretty sure it's not. Just pure lack of understanding how you sound to your audience.

Yeah man, it’s rough, but the developers created this culture while everyone else just adapted to it. They launch first, then start thinking and planning later and give up as soon as people realize they’re just grifting.

What do you mean? People act the way they've been conditioned to act. Why would anyone hold coins when the dev could wake up one day, start a new project, and pretend the old one never existed? The culture is broken mainly because of the people launching these projects. The crowd's behavior is just a reflection of their lack of integrity, originality, vision, and execution. But i think they do need them to support them, hence everthing fails.

The answer is User A, but the issue goes a bit deeper than that. The real problem is the culture and the reputation developers in this space have built. I can barely find any who actually stick to their narratives and follow them through. People have just gotten used to the idea that any dev can wake up tomorrow with a fresh new idea, and the previous projects are treated like they never existed. So they've been conditioned to front run that pattern and sell early, because the launch is always the highlight. How many of these dev's projects do you know that launched with momentum, had a sell off, and later reached new heights due to actual development and adoption? Even the developers themselves don’t seem to believe in that outcome, they rush to start new projects just to regain attention and that keeps the loop of their audience selling right away going. That’s why builders are bearish in this space: it’s their own fault.

Hopefully. I really dislike not holding on to narratives, that's why people always quickly sell these builders' coins. They know tomorrow there could be a new one, and the previous one is treated like it never existed, despite all the big promises and the narrative build up. New ideas are nice, but at some point you have to stick with something for a while and finish what you were preeching to gain some credibility that will make people hold your future coins.

Is this still valid? I totally understand it's not a top priority right now and that there are other things going on. But if the $SOCIAL thing is still alive, why not at least post an update every now and then? Even monthly would do. I can’t help but feel like a dumbass being the top holder who once again believed in the long-term development narrative, while it seems like most others have just quietly moved on. This is exactly why builders have developed a bad reputation: they fail to establish a proper narrative. This project had all the hallmarks of overpromising and underdelivering, with a narrative that at times seemed to be deliberately fudding people out. Builders should stay focused on building in the background. while someone else leads the front facing narrative.

This would have been useful material to go through, read, and learn from a few months ago when $SOCIAL was launching , back when the word “distribution” was being spammed without anyone actually seeing it in action or understanding what it really meant.

My takeaway from supporting builders is that they should never be the face of the project or put out in front, developers should stay behind the scenes and work in silence.

@mjc716 With the coinbase wallet integrating fc soon and with having live spaces in our $SOCIAL app, would that essentially mean you would be able to have chat rooms through your cb wallet? That sounds like a giant opportunity for exposure

Yeah, don’t get me wrong, I appreciate the tokenomics mentioning $SOCIAL and i don't blame anyone other than myself, I don’t believe MJC has any bad intentions. I do believe in him as a builder. But honestly, holding this has been one of the worst experiences ever. First, after buying in, I had to endure him FUDing his own coin for weeks without him realizing. Then, with each new release (even when i take a look at Politswap now), he seemed completely unaware of how his words and actions were being interpreted by market participants. He’s definitely a bit autistic in that regard, as much as I like his personality.

Yeah, to be honest, I don't really understand these algorithms or the thought process behind them as they end up favoring farmers and bots who end up wrecking the charts. Why not incentivize genuine, real people in some meaningful way to qualify? Or at least tell them what they need to do? I've been among the top holders, actively shilled, participated in games and chatrooms, supported SOCIAL in every possible way, only to be left out once again from something we were told holders were supposed to benefit from, while in the end wasn't even notified it's launching so that I could at least take advantage of the tied tokenomics effect that is pretty much effective only on the launch day as it fades away later on.
